Atlas

Meet Atlas! This adorable 9 lb Chihuahua mix was born around October 2025. Atlas was found as a stray and is still learning that people can be safe. He joined foster care in June 2026 and is estimated to be about 8 months old. He's a classic Chihuahua mix: alert, barky, clingy to his person, and full of personality, but also a little fearful from his early life experiences.

Atlas loves snuggling and sleeping on laps. He also enjoys playing fetch with stuffed toys (Lambchop is his favorite!), going for long sniffing walks, sitting at the front door protecting the house, exploring the yard, and doing zoomies. He sleeps soundly in his crate for 8 hours at night and is potty trained. He's quite the jumper and can easily clear baby gates!

Ideal Home

Atlas needs an adult-only home with no cats. He does best with a confident dog who can set boundaries. He needs someone experienced with Chihuahuas or fearful dogs, and a calm, patient environment with predictable routines. A person who will let him build trust at his own pace is essential.

Training & Support

Atlas startles easily and reacts when touched unexpectedly, woken suddenly, or overwhelmed. He does not like being picked up, flinches at hands, and needs slow, calm introductions. He may require multiple meetings to remember someone. He is not treat-motivated, which can make trust-building slower.
