Gina is a charming 8-month-old Belgian Malinois mix, weighing in at 56lbs. She was found as a tiny puppy, abandoned in a cardboard box by a busy road. Despite her rough start, Gina has blossomed in her foster home and is now ready to find her forever family. She's a smart, playful pup who loves her toys and has mastered fetch. She even enjoys collecting her toys and keeping them all in her bed!
Ideal Home
Gina would thrive in an active home with someone who will engage her in daily play and exercise. She'd do well with older, dog-savvy children (10 and up) who understand her excitable nature and can handle her jumping when she's happy. Because she was attacked by larger dogs in the past, she can be a little hesitant around unfamiliar, bigger dogs, and introductions should be slow and mindful. She’s already doing great with small dogs under 15 lbs and large dogs over 75 lbs in her foster home. Gina would benefit from a home with another dog to keep her company and help her burn off puppy energy. She's looking for a family that understands the commitment of raising a large, active dog into a well-mannered adult. A cat-free home is recommended, as she gets a bit too excited by neighborhood kitties.
Ongoing Health
Gina is a healthy pup with no known ongoing health conditions.
Training & Support
Gina is crate trained and doing well with house training, with no accidents when crated for up to 8 hours. She walks nicely on a leash and doesn't show signs of separation anxiety. She is currently in the "puppy velociraptor stage," meaning she needs guidance on appropriate chew items, but she enjoys treats and will prefer to eat them in peace. Continued socialization and positive reinforcement training will be key to her continued development.
