Handsome Hopper is a dashingly handsome, playful, and athletic young dog, estimated to be around one year old and weighing 58 lbs. He's a bright socialite who has made many friends and is sure to win you over with his goofy and earnest personality. Hopper loves to be active and would be an excellent hiking companion, as his foster family reports that "short" walks can range from 55-90 minutes to burn off his energy. He's strong, especially when he spots a squirrel, so he'll need a capable handler. Hopper would also benefit from a home with a spacious, fenced-in yard where he can race around and play. He enjoys games of tug and fetch, is a smart boy, and can be a bit of a chewer when bored. Thankfully, he's housebroken, knows how to sit, and is good at self-entertaining with toys. He also loves car rides and has been a fantastic road-trip companion.
Ideal Home
Hopper would thrive with an active person or family who can provide him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. A home with a securely fenced-in yard would be a huge bonus. He would likely do best as the only pet in the household, as he can get overexcited around cats and has shown some prey drive.
Ongoing Health
Hopper is up-to-date on his DAPPL, Rabies, and Bordetella vaccines. He is microchipped and comes with a Cuyahoga County license. It is recommended that he see a personal vet within two weeks of adoption, and follow-up booster vaccines may be required.
Training & Support
Hopper has spent time in training classes to work on his dog reactivity, and his adopter will need to be willing to continue this training. While he used to be good with other dogs, he can now get amped up and frustrated when he sees them. An adopter willing to work on his social skills around other dogs is essential. He is also a smart boy who can be a bit of a chewer when bored, so providing him with plenty of chew toys is recommended.
