River

River is a 4.5-year-old, 50-pound Schnauzer mix who is incredibly loving and affectionate with his own people. He can be a bit wary of visitors due to past experiences, but with the right guidance, he's a wonderful companion. River is playful and moderately active, enjoying walks when things are calm and responding well to positive reinforcement. He would do best as an only dog, though a well-behaved female canine role model could be beneficial. River needs a dedicated pack leader to show him the way, and if that sounds like you, a very loving companion awaits!

Ideal Home

River needs a calm single or couple with a quiet lifestyle and few visitors. A semi-rural or rural environment would suit him best. River would not be suitable for apartment life, and he should not live with children or be taken to dog parks.

River is neutered and vaccinated.

Training & Support

River can be reactive towards visitors, a behavior that developed from being put in a room when guests arrived. He needs an experienced adopter who is prepared to work with him using a basket muzzle to help manage and overcome this reaction. He responds well to redirection and positive reinforcement.
