It's my pleasure to introduce Samantha!
Samantha is a sweet and stoic 21-pound, 5 1⁄2 year old Scottish Terrier. She originally came to us as a puppy mill rescue and due to her past struggles, it's been challenging for her to feel comfortable and settle into a forever home. Samantha has a gentle spirit and has warmed up to other dogs in her foster home. Although apprehensive, she is learning from them how to accept treats, pets, and love from people. She requires a home with a confident dog friend to continue leading the way, teach her how to socialize, and show her there are patient and kind-hearted humans in the world. Mealtimes and treats are Samantha's absolute favorites, and she will hop up and down for both! She is crate and pee pad trained and is working on house breaking. Her foster friends have shown her how to use the doggie door and then proudly run in to accept her reward for doing her business outside. She is also working on leash training and is coming along magnificently! Samantha is anxious and nervous when approached but will allow a calm hand to pet her and even give a hug or kiss. She quietly tolerates being brushed and may even enjoy it a little. This Scottie Girl needs a soft place to land and a supportive, understanding adopter who finds joy in celebrating the small victories of life's journey. She does like her space but will also make a wonderful companion in a peaceful home.
Ideal Home
Samantha requires a home with a confident dog friend to help her learn to socialize and trust people. She also needs a fenced-in yard to help her feel safe and get her zoomies out. Samantha will do best in a peaceful home where she can have her space but will also make a wonderful companion.
Ongoing Health
Samantha is spayed and up to date on vaccines and treatments.
Training & Support
Samantha is crate and pee pad trained and is working on house breaking. She has learned to use a doggie door and is working on leash training. She is still a bit anxious and nervous when approached but is slowly learning to accept pets and affection from calm individuals.
