Trix is an 8-month-old, 35-pound Pitbull mix with the sweetest, smartest soul, despite her shy nature. She and her brother were surrendered to a shelter, and Trix, being the more timid of the two, needed extra time in foster care to build her confidence. Early in life, she was significantly undersocialized, and her baseline is fear of humans. However, she has never shown any reactivity and simply looks for a safe space when unsure. Trix is incredibly observant and learns quickly; she figured out the doggy door in just a couple of days! With patience and intentional trust-building, she softens and begins to trust her people. You'll discover her playing with toys when she thinks no one is watching, enjoying the company of other dogs, and eventually seeking comfort by curling up on the couch or sleeping in bed with her humans.
Ideal Home
Trix will thrive in a home where someone is around more often than not, as she is still a puppy and building trust takes time and consistency. She is not a ready-made confident dog and will require patience, compassion, and commitment. While she has been around kids and is shy at first, adopters without another dog should have a thoughtful plan for socialization and confidence building.
Ongoing Health
Trix is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. No specific health conditions are noted in her description.
Training & Support
Trix is housebroken and loves her crate. She is learning to walk on a leash. She needs a family willing to invest time and patience to help her overcome her shyness and build trust. The reward for this investment will be extraordinary, watching her discover the world is safe and she is loved.
