Meet Lyza, a 6-year-young Mini Poodle/Cocker Spaniel mix who is the ultimate cuddle bug! After spending her first six years in a commercial breeding facility, Lyza is now in a foster home learning how wonderful it is to be cherished. She is an incredibly sweet, loving, and affectionate companion who thrives on human attention and is ready to find her permanent, soft landing. Lyza is a people-pleaser, always eager for pets and to be by your side. She's great with everyone she meets and is completely comfortable with handling, making grooming a breeze.
Ideal Home
Lyza is seeking a home where someone is home most of the time to provide her with the close companionship she craves. She does well when left alone for up to 4 hours but prefers a human-centric lifestyle. She also needs a family who doesn't mind accompanying her outside for bathroom breaks in any weather, as she prefers company while doing her business. Lyza cannot be crated, as this causes her severe distress and anxiety; her new home must be committed to allowing her free roam of the house or using alternative containment like gates or playpens. She also needs an owner dedicated to continuing her soft food diet.
Ongoing Health
Lyza is a happy and healthy girl, but she has had all her teeth removed due to severe dental decay. This means she cannot eat hard kibble or treats and must be fed a diet of crumbled and soft foods twice a day. Her veterinarian recommends a daily intake of 450 calories.
Training & Support
Lyza is a blank slate when it comes to traditional obedience commands like "Sit," "Stay," or "Come," but she is very compliant and motivated by food rewards. Her new family will be required to register with approved, positive method training classes to help her continue to build her skills. As a poodle/cocker mix, Lyza requires daily grooming to prevent mats and regular professional grooming appointments to maintain her coat and keep her face clean. While she is house-trained, she may experience temporary anxious poops if her routine is heavily disrupted, though this has decreased significantly as she has decompressed in her foster home.

Transportation
Lyza is currently being fostered in St. Jacobs, Ontario. Due to her aversion to crates, she travels best when securely seatbelted with a harness in the backseat of a vehicle. She is a quiet and content passenger once buckled in.
