Juniper

Juniper is a sweet and affectionate 8-month-old black tri-color female Australian Shepherd. She was surrendered back to us about six weeks ago and is looking for a training-focused home. Juniper had an excellent start in life, including ENS, early structure, and confidence-building. She is smart, athletic, and has fantastic potential for dog sports like agility. Her recall has improved dramatically, and her impulse control is getting better daily. She learns quickly and genuinely wants to please.

Ideal Home

Juniper needs a home with secure fencing that is 4 ft or higher. She thrives with clear boundaries and consistent training. A home that can provide positive outlets for her energy through walks, hikes, enrichment activities, agility, and training sessions would be ideal. She would do best with someone who enjoys working with Aussies and understands their drive, and who sees her potential and is willing to guide her. Due to past experiences, we do not trust her with cats or poultry at this time.

Ongoing Health

Juniper will receive proper vaccinations and deworming before going to her new home. She will also have veterinary checks and health care.

Training & Support

Juniper's challenge is that she missed out on consistent boundaries in her previous home. When bored, she has a tendency to hop fences (she can clear a 3.5 ft fence but has not jumped our 4 ft fence). When she does hop, she doesn’t run off but waits on the front porch or yard. This is due to a lack of structure and impulse control, not defiance. She also developed a habit of killing chickens in her previous home. She has shown no aggression towards people or dogs since being back with us.
