Barko Polo

Meet Barko Polo! This brave little guy has come a long way since arriving at our shelter. He's 5 years old and weighs about 7 pounds. While he still has moments of shyness, he's made incredible progress and is learning to trust. Barko Polo has a history of a rough start, but with patience and kindness, he's blossoming into a sweet and gentle companion. He gets along well with other dogs, and is learning to be more comfortable around male dogs, but he truly prefers the company of female dogs. We're unsure how he would do with children or cats, so supervision would be advised in those situations.

Ideal Home

Barko Polo is looking for a calm and understanding home where he can continue to grow and build confidence at his own pace. A home with a resident female dog would be ideal.

Ongoing Health

All our animals are provided with age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped prior to adoption.

Training & Support

Barko Polo is still learning to navigate new situations and people. Continued positive reinforcement and patience will help him continue to gain confidence.

• With an approved application, a deposit can hold your new best friend for up to 1 week. Please note, this deposit is non-refundable and non-transferable, and is not applied to the adoption fee.

Barko Polo is located at P.A.W.S. (Protecting Animal Welfare Society) at 400 W. Walnut St., Jacksonville, IL 62650. We are open for adoptions on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 am - 4 pm.
