About Loki

Loki is a 6.5-month-old male Retriever/Pit Bull mix, weighing 40 pounds and expected to be a large dog when fully grown. He was rescued with his mother, Wanda, and five siblings from the woods outside of Houston. Loki is the fearless ringleader of his litter, always the first to explore and eager to announce his presence. He's brave, bold, and endlessly entertaining, approaching life with confidence and a sense of adventure. Loki is an expert climber and enjoys games of keep-away with his toys. He's potty-trained and, while he can be hesitant with new experiences, he quickly overcomes his initial shyness. He loves food and will happily make his way to the front of the line for treats. Despite his playful energy, Loki also has a very sweet side and enjoys cuddling after a day of adventures. He loves people and other dogs and has greeted children and adults happily. Loki has experience with crates, though he's not crated for extended periods due to his age. He has not yet been tested with cats. He is still learning leash skills and basic obedience, and he is eager to learn.

Ideal Home

Loki would thrive in a home that can provide ongoing positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice to help him mature into an exceptional adult dog. We prefer homes that already have another friendly, well-mannered dog to help mentor and guide Loki. If you don't currently have another dog, please share your plan for continued socialization, such as structured training classes, supervised daycare, or regular playdates. Because Loki is still young, we prefer homes where someone isn't routinely away for more than four to six hours at a time.

Ongoing Health

No specific ongoing health conditions are mentioned in Loki's description.

Training & Support

Loki is potty-trained but may have a few accidents as he adjusts to a new routine. He is continuing to practice his leash skills and basic obedience and is eager to learn. Ongoing socialization, positive reinforcement, consistency, and continued leash practice will help him thrive.
