Benson

Meet Benson, a sweet and quiet gentleman with a heartwarming story! Benson was found after being hit by a car in Texas and, following a leg amputation, has learned that humans can bring good things, like treats and comfort. He’s a handsome tripod who gets along well with other dogs and is completely indifferent to cats. Benson is potty trained, enjoys car rides, and has been a perfect gentleman during all his vet visits and handling.

While Benson is happy to be by your side, he’s not a dog who needs to be attached at the hip every second. True to his Great Pyrenees heritage, he’s more of an observer, content to keep an eye on things from the same room and enjoy your company without demanding constant attention. He’s looking for peace and a soft place to sleep.

Ideal Home

Benson would thrive in a calm, low-traffic home. He would do best with children over 12 who understand and respect a dog’s boundaries. Loud, boisterous children would be overwhelming for him. A home with minimal stairs is preferred to help keep him comfortable long-term, though he navigates his world quite well on three legs!

Ongoing Health

Benson is a tripod following a leg amputation. While he gets around well, a home with fewer stairs is recommended for his long-term comfort.

Training & Support

Benson is potty trained and a wonderful traveler. His main support needs involve understanding his preference for a calmer environment and respecting his need for personal space.
