You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Bruce is a devoted little pup who came to us skinny and fearful. Once he feels safe and comfortable, he'll follow you around the house and even snuggle with you wanting ear scratches and belly rubs. Overall his activity level is pretty moderate, but every now and then he has bursts of energy and gets the zoomies. He is fine with cats but we believe he really needs another dog as companion as they help his confidence a lot. Bruce is fluent with a doggie door and will spend a good bit of his day sniffing around in the backyard -- especially if he has doggie company. He can still be timid with new people and sensitive to loud noises and fast movements. Patience and gentleness are the key to his trust -- especially with men as he seems to prefer women. He suffered through some persistent GI issues due to poor nutrition and intestinal parasites which we have finally cleared. He will need continued dietary support with a good quality diet and supplementation. Bruce's foster mom has been crating him when she's away and he's comfortable in the crate for a couple hours, but will do much better with a family who does not have to leave him alone very much. He sleeps on her bed at night. When Bruce first came to us he tested positive for heartworms, but he has already been treated and is now awaiting a sleepover.
Ideal Home
Bruce needs a home that can provide him with patience and gentleness to help him build trust, especially as he can be timid with new people, sensitive to loud noises, and fast movements. He seems to prefer women. A home with another dog would be ideal as they help boost his confidence. He would do best with a family who does not have to leave him alone very much, as he is still adjusting to being crated for extended periods.
Ongoing Health
Bruce has been treated for GI issues due to poor nutrition and intestinal parasites. He will require continued dietary support with a good quality diet and supplementation. He also tested positive for heartworms but has been treated and has recovered.
Training & Support
Bruce is still learning to be comfortable with being alone for extended periods. He sleeps on his foster mom's bed at night and is comfortable in his crate for a couple hours. Continued patience and gentleness will be key to building his trust.
