About Sugar

Hi, I’m Sugar! 🤍🐾 I’m a 6-year-old gentle, sweet mama dog who is finally getting the chance to just be a dog after a long journey. I came from a shelter where I had been since January, and during that time I gave birth to a litter of puppies under very difficult circumstances. I experienced a complicated delivery, and sadly one of my babies didn’t survive—but my surviving puppy, Brownie, made it, and I took my job as her mom very seriously. I am a devoted, caring mother, and even now I still show that nurturing side in the sweetest ways. When I arrived in rescue, I also had a large mass on my back leg, which has since been successfully removed. I’m healing beautifully, and I’m feeling so much better and more comfortable in my body now. These days, I’m doing really well! My personality is calm, relaxed, and very sweet. I’m not much of a rough-and-tumble player right now, but I absolutely enjoy peaceful time in the yard, wandering around, taking in the world, and just enjoying my space. I’m starting to show little bursts of happiness too—like gentle zoomies and soft moments of joy that remind everyone I’m feeling better and better. I love food (a lot!), and I’m very happy and easygoing around people. I’ve been settling into rescue life well and am becoming more comfortable every day as I learn what it feels like to be safe and cared for without responsibilities weighing me down. At heart, I’m a soft, loving girl with a very kind spirit. I’ve spent a long time giving to others, and now I’m finally learning what it means to receive that love in return. If you’re looking for a sweet, steady companion with a calm presence and a big heart, I might just be your new best friend!
