Meet Onyx, a sweet 7-year-old Chi Dachshund mix weighing around 20lbs! This charming girl has a calm, gentle spirit and a personality that will make you smile every day. Onyx was rescued from the euthanasia list at an overcrowded shelter in Houston and has been showing everyone just how special she is ever since. She’s spayed, vaccinated, and up to date on all her preventatives, making her ready to find the loving home she deserves.
Ideal Home
Onyx enjoys a slower pace due to a bit of arthritis. She would do best in a semi-active to low-activity household where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys running around with them, though she can get a little excited on leash when greeting new dog friends. She has done well with respectful kids ages 7-12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.
Ongoing Health
Onyx has a bit of arthritis, which is why she enjoys a slower pace.
Training & Support
Onyx is house-broken, sleeps in her crate at night by choice, and can be crated up to 10 hours if needed. She doesn’t resource guard, shows no food aggression, and can be trusted to free-roam the house without being destructive. She gets a little excited on leash when greeting new dog friends.
