Mermaid

This tiny little girl may not live under the sea, but she is definitely a rare little treasure! Mermaid is about 6 years old and weighs just 12 pounds. She came to us when her previous owner was no longer able to care for her, and all the sudden changes left her feeling a little overwhelmed at first. A new place, new people, new routines, and lots of activity was a lot for this little lady to process.

But just like any good Mermaid story, she slowly started finding her way. With time and patience, Mermaid has come out of her shell and shown everyone what a sweet little pup she really is. She can still be a little shy when meeting someone new, but she just likes to make sure you're kind before she gives you her whole heart.

Once she trusts you? You'll have a tiny shadow following you around! Mermaid loves being close to her people. She enjoys being held, getting affection, and knowing her favorite humans are nearby. She's also a big fan of snacks (which she would like everyone to know is a very important detail).

With other dogs, Mermaid does best with calmer friends who understand her slower pace. She enjoys companionship and likes being around other dogs, especially when everyone is just hanging out together.

She's the kind of dog who doesn't need a big production. She just wants a cozy spot, a little reassurance, some treats, and someone who lets her know she's home.
