Rocco is a handsome Rottweiler pup born on January 7, 2026. He joined Mattie's Place after being surrendered to a rescue when he became very ill with parvovirus. Thankfully, Rocco has made a full recovery and is ready to find his forever family! He is a confident, courageous, and intelligent boy who is eager to learn and has a lot of potential for various canine activities like herding, tracking, and obedience. Rocco is a lover of adventure and needs an active home where he can have daily exercise and opportunities to explore. He is a bit of a "velcro dog" and enjoys being close to his people.
Ideal Home
Rocco would do best in a home with another larger breed adult dog to help guide his play style. He is not suited for a home with children under 13 years old due to his size and puppy mouthing. He is not cat tested.
Ongoing Health
Rocco is fully recovered from parvovirus and should have no further complications. He will be receiving his full vaccine protocols, including boosters and neutering, through Mattie's Place with their rescue veterinarian.
Training & Support
Rocco is a typical puppy who missed out on early training. He can be mouthy and jump up on people, and he is still working on house training, with occasional accidents. He also needs to work on leash manners, as he tends to mouth and yank the leash. He has a tendency to eat leaves, dirt, shrubs, and sticks when outdoors. Consistent training with a breed-experienced adopter and a professional trainer will be key to his success. He is not reactive to dogs or people passing by but may bark at unfamiliar noises.
