Maxwell

Meet Maxwell! This sweet boy came to us after being labeled a hospice case at the shelter due to a rare tick-borne disease called Hepatozoonosis, which can cause the body to break down over time. The wonderful news is that dogs can achieve remission and live long, fulfilling lives! Maxwell appears to be in remission and is now ready to find his forever home!

He's a friendly, goofy, loving, and kind young adult who weighs about 55 pounds. Maxwell is thriving in his foster home with another male dog and two children. He adores going for walks and loves to curl up for a snooze on the couch. He's a smart and well-behaved guy, so you don't need to worry about crate, potty, or leash training. Despite everything he's been through, Maxwell is always wearing a smile!

Ideal Home

Maxwell's ideal home is a loving and comfortable one where he can spend his remaining years. Adopters must understand that while he's expected to live many more years, he may experience flare-ups requiring supplemental medication in the future.

Ongoing Health

Maxwell has Hepatozoonosis, but is in remission. He has also successfully undergone heartworm treatment.

Training & Support

Maxwell is already house-trained, crate-trained, and leash-trained. He's a smart and well-behaved companion.
