Meet Rey!
Rey is a thoughtful, almost five-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix with a striking black and fawn coat. She's clever, loyal, and loves bacon-scented fetch balls, cozy naps, and training games with tasty rewards. Her expressive eyes light up for treats, and she's happiest with a calm, predictable routine. Rey knows an impressive list of commands like "sit," "stay," "heel," "touch," and "hold," and she's house-trained and crate-trained. Walks and treat-dispensing puzzle toys are some of her favorite activities.
Ideal Home
Rey is best suited for a quiet, structured environment with a caregiver who has experience working with anxious or reactive dogs. She is not suitable for homes with children or other pets.
Ongoing Health
Rey is currently taking daily fluoxetine to support her anxiety.
Training & Support
Rey's anxiety tends to show up around unfamiliar people and dogs who approach her with interest. While she can settle quickly when left alone, she needs help managing greetings and space boundaries. Her current caregivers use leash management, positive reinforcement, and distance-based games to help her feel secure during new encounters. Rey has a bite history where she has reacted defensively and bitten in past situations where she felt startled or overwhelmed, such as when someone disturbed her while she was sleeping or tried to take food. These incidents were not unprovoked and did not require medical attention. We are including a full month of behavioral guidance from our consultant to help Rey settle in.
