About Bear

Bear is a wonderfully sweet and friendly 10-month-old Labrador Retriever mix, weighing 53 pounds. He's full of love, personality, and youthful enthusiasm, and he gets along great with dogs, cats, and children. Bear truly enjoys being around everyone and is happiest when he has company, making new friends is one of his favorite things!

Ideal Home

Bear has plenty of energy and loves to run and play, so an active family is a must! He'd thrive in a home with another playful dog to share his adventures with, or a family that can provide regular doggy daycare. Bear is house-trained but is not yet crate-trained. He needs a home with an adequately and fully fenced yard; electric or underground fences are not accepted.

Ongoing Health

Bear is fully vetted, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and on heartworm and flea prevention.

Training & Support

Bear does have food-related resource guarding, which stems from his past experiences on the streets. While he's comfortable and relaxed with his trusted caregiver, he can become protective of his food around other dogs and must be fed separately. This behavior is limited to feeding times, and with consistent positive reinforcement training and appropriate management of feeding times, it is expected to diminish and disappear. Bear is still very much a puppy at heart and will benefit from continued structure and positive training.
