Willy

Willy is a charming 18-month-old fellow, estimated to be around 35 pounds. He's a unique blend of Basset Hound and Australian Shepherd/Mini American Shepherd, giving him a distinctive "low rider" physique and a playful spirit. Willy was found as a stray on a golf course and has since charmed his way into our hearts. He's a clever pup who enjoys his toys and is happy to share them by redistributing them around the house!

Ideal Home

Willy would thrive in a home with another young or young-at-heart, playful dog who can keep up with his energy. While he's never aggressive, his puppy exuberance might be a bit much for senior or less active dogs. He also needs a home where he won't be left alone for more than 3-4 hours at a time, as he's still young and needs to be crated when unsupervised to prevent him from getting into things.

Ongoing Health

Willy has a sensitive stomach and has experienced stress colitis. While he's on the mend, his adopter(s) will need to be mindful of his diet and continue to work on his "leave it" command to prevent him from scavenging on walks. His foster will provide a supply of his current food to help with a smooth transition to a new diet if needed.

Training & Support

Willy has completed a beginning obedience training course and benefits from short, consistent training sessions to help him settle. He's crate-trained and does well with leash walking, showing no reactivity towards other dogs. Continuing his training, especially the "leave it" command, will be key to his continued success.
