Meet Hal!
Hal is a big, beautiful, 3-legged Malinois, estimated to be between 1.5 and 3 years old. He absolutely loves to run, play, and sniff! Don't let his missing leg fool you; it doesn't slow him down one bit! Hal is a wonderful boy who has been through so much. He was found with a severely injured front leg, likely from a vehicle strike, which sadly necessitated an amputation. After his surgery, he came to us to heal. He has also undergone dental work to remove a broken canine tooth. We've been working on many skills with Hal, including leash walking, settling, and car rides. He even completed an Intro to Nose Work class and absolutely excelled!
Ideal Home
Hal is seeking an experienced guardian who is willing and able to put in the work – we promise, he is worth it! He is very smart and learns quickly, eager to please and picks up new things rapidly. We are looking for a home that will continue his training using force-free methods. Hal gets overly excited about small animals and would do best in a home without cats, birds, or other small animals. Larger animals that move quickly also excite him, but he is learning to calm down around them. We are still working on his interactions with other dogs, and we believe he could potentially live with an appropriately matched dog. This might be another medium to large dog who is dog-savvy and unlikely to react negatively to an exuberant playmate. It's possible that several introductions may be needed to ensure Hal is a good fit. Hal would also love to be the center of your world!
Ongoing Health
Hal has had his front leg amputated and received dental care for a broken canine tooth. He is neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped, and has had his dental care completed.
Training & Support
Hal is eager to learn and picks up new skills quickly. He has experience with leash walking, settling, and car rides. He also excelled in an Intro to Nose Work class. We are seeking a home committed to continuing his training with force-free methods. Hal is still working on his interactions with other dogs and needs continued support to become a wonderful companion for the right home.

Hal is currently fostered in Oakville, WA, and all meetings will be held there. He is available for adoption to homes in western WA, NW OR, or within a reasonable driving distance of Oakville, WA.
