About Mariachi D2149
Hi, I'm Mariachi, but my family also calls me Coco! My previous owner had to find a new home for me due to medical reasons, which was tough, but they're committed to finding me a wonderful new family where I can continue to enjoy an active and loving life.
I'm a super-smart girl who thrives on learning new things, especially when treats are involved! I know a whole bunch of commands like sit, down, place, kennel, spin, twirl, crawl, and leave it. I'm highly motivated by food and love puzzle toys and anything that challenges my brain. I'm happiest when I'm included in activities, whether it's scent work, learning tricks, hiking, playing games, or just supervising household duties. My family calls me their "household detective" because I take my job of investigating interesting smells on walks very seriously – every tree, bush, and patch of grass has important news to share!
I'm also an athletic and playful pup who adores games of fetch and tug. Fetch is a favorite; I'll chase a ball until I'm exhausted and then dramatically flop down like an Olympian! I enjoy tug toys too, and I'm not picky – fancy toys are great, but even homemade ones made from old jeans are a hit. I love to zoom around the house or yard, especially under furniture. Sometimes I'll pause in my "zoomie cave" to bark before launching back into action, which always makes my family laugh!
Despite my energetic side, I'm also very sweet and gentle. I'm affectionate and love attention. My favorite time for cuddles is in the morning, stretching out for belly rubs. In the evenings, I'm happy to relax on the couch with you. I'm friendly with new people. Men wearing hats might make me pause for a moment of observation, but once I've had a chance to gather my facts, I'm usually ready to make friends. I've been gentle with young children and am very soft when taking treats, even when I'm excited.
I'm crate-trained and comfortable in my kennel, but I've also earned enough trust to relax freely in the house when my family is away. I've lived successfully in both houses with fenced yards and apartments. While I adapted well to apartment living, I truly loved having a yard for sunbathing, squirrel patrol, zooming, and neighborhood inspections. A fenced yard would be pure bliss for me!
I get along well with other dogs and tend to be more submissive. If my fur stands up when I'm excited or intensely interested, it's just my way of expressing, "WOW! THIS IS REALLY INTERESTING!" and never out of aggression. I have good recall and enjoy staying close to my people. On leash, I start walks with enthusiasm and sniffing, but I settle into a more polite pace. With a little consistency, I'll be an excellent walking partner.
To be completely honest, I'm a professional stuffed-animal destroyer. Dog toys, children's stuffed animals left on the floor – they're all fair game! However, stuffed animals placed out of reach are perfectly safe. I know the difference; I just make my own choices. My work is thorough, and the resulting fluff explosions are quite impressive! Fortunately, this is one of the few flaws my family has identified.
Most of all, I want to be a part of the family. I'm curious, funny, affectionate, playful, intelligent, and full of personality. My family says I'm part dog, part detective, part athlete, part comedian, and part demolition expert, and that I've made them laugh every single day. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will keep you entertained, keep you company, and love you with her whole heart, I'd love to meet you!
