Xena

Xena is a stunning, approximately 2-year-old Border Collie/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix with a personality as strong as her namesake! She was born around July 15, 2021. Xena is a true pack animal who loves to snuggle with her people and other dogs, sleeping soundly in bed with her foster family. She's learned to be independent too, so she's happy with either quiet time or playtime. Xena has a playful spirit and loves to fetch, though she's a bit of a reluctant retriever – she'd much rather play tug-of-war! She also finds laser pointers utterly fascinating. When her foster parents give her fresh water, they add extra ice cubes, which Xena feels makes her feel extra special and loved.

Ideal Home

Xena needs an active family who can keep up with her energy and provide plenty of opportunities for her to run and explore. She thrives with the company of other dogs and would love a home with one or more canine companions. A family that is home often would be ideal, as Xena dislikes being in a kennel or crate.

Ongoing Health

Xena is a special needs dog. She experiences seizures when she gets overly excited, which her vet believes is due to a head injury as a puppy. She needs a family that understands how to manage and care for a dog with occasional seizures.

Training & Support

Xena walks well on a leash with her harness and knows commands like "stay," "no," and "potty." She's learning to fetch and enjoys playing tug-of-war. She will bark at strangers until she gets to know them, so continued socialization and positive reinforcement will be beneficial.
