Brayleigh is a resilient and spirited 5-6 year old, 25-pound bundle of mixed breeds (Australian shepherd, Australian koolie, Australian cattle dog, and shar-pei). She's a survivor who, despite being found as a stray with severe skin and ear infections, and being blind and deaf, has blossomed into a dog full of personality and affection for the right person. Brayleigh's journey has included luxating patella surgery, and she's come through it all with her unique character intact. She’s a master of playtime and also enjoys quiet time near her favorite human, often falling asleep with a beloved toy.
Ideal Home
Brayleigh needs a patient and understanding home, ideally with one or more women who have experience with dogs who have unique needs. While she prefers to be the only pet, she might do well with a laid-back male dog. A securely fenced yard is a must for her safety. She also thrives with someone who is home most of the time, although she is comfortable being left alone for periods and is not destructive.
Ongoing Health
Brayleigh is managing allergies and requires regular medicated baths and brushing. She also takes daily medication and receives weekly injections. She has undergone surgery for luxating patellas in both legs.
Training & Support
Brayleigh is leash-trained, crate-trained, and reliably uses a potty pad or goes outside. She knows a touch command for "come." While she can be a bit stubborn and particular about who she trusts, especially when it comes to grooming, her loyalty and affection for those she bonds with are immense. Patience and consistency will be key to building her confidence.
