Clay

Clay is a handsome, approximately 3-year-old, 85lb Redbone Coonhound who is sure to steal your heart with his expressive hound voice and goofy charm! He came to us sad and underweight, but has blossomed into a happy, intelligent, and loyal companion. Clay loves long walks in nature, swimming, car rides, and snuggling up for TV time. He's a pro at "couch potato" time and gives the best belly rubs, rewarding them with a big, toothy grin. While he might be too big to be a professional lap dog, he certainly acts like one, enjoying holding hands and sleeping close to his people. He's gentle with children and dogs, playful with other dogs, and has already mastered several obedience commands and tricks.

Ideal Home

Clay would thrive in a rural home with a fenced yard where he can freely express himself. He needs an experienced owner who appreciates his vocal nature and understands his strong hound prey drive. While he is generally good with dogs and children, cats are unfortunately not safe around him.

Ongoing Health

Clay came to us in poor health and underweight but has since recovered. He is a large breed dog.

Training & Support

Clay is a smart dog who adapts quickly to routine and has had some prior obedience training. He is still working on his leash training, and his new owner should be prepared to continue this journey with patience. He can be vocal when unhappy and will whine until his needs are met. When he goes outside, he needs to proclaim his presence to the neighborhood, which usually involves howling.
