Meet Ernie! He's a charming 8-year-old, 63lb Pittie/Cattle Dog mix with a heart full of love to give. Ernie was found wandering on a busy street and was taken in by his foster mom. Despite being microchipped, his previous owner did not want him back. Ernie was clearly cherished in his past life and is now ready to find his forever family. He's a chill guy who still gets excited for walks and playdates, and he truly wants to be wherever his people are.
Ideal Home
Ernie is a social butterfly who gets along well with humans and animals alike. He wags his tail enthusiastically when he sees other dogs and enjoys being included in group play. He's been gentle with smaller dogs and seems unfazed by a more assertive foster sibling. While he hasn't formally met cats, he shows interest without aggression, suggesting he could do well with feline friends who are comfortable with his curious nature. Ernie hasn't been around children, but his gentle demeanor makes his foster believe he would be wonderful with them, provided they understand he's a larger dog. His foster mom feels Ernie would be a great fit in any home, whether with kids, other pets, an older couple, or even a first-time dog owner.
Ongoing Health
Ernie is currently HW- (heartworm negative).
Training & Support
Ernie is house-trained and walks beautifully on a leash. He does not enjoy crates and will attempt to escape, but he doesn't become destructive when left unsupervised. If he knows you're home and he's in his crate, he might whine or howl for a short period, but he calms down with a treat or gentle verbal commands.
