Blitzen is a handsome 1-year-old, 60lb Boxer mix with a striking brindle and white coat. He's a survivor who has been through a lot, from being a stray to going through a prison training program. Now, he's in foster care and ready to find his forever family. Blitzen is incredibly eager to please and highly trainable, having learned many manners and tricks. He loves to play, zoom around the yard, and wrestle with his doggy friends. He's known to be fantastic with other dogs, big and small, and even gentle with tiny pups and older dogs. When he's not playing, Blitzen is a total lovebug who enjoys being by his human's side, following them around like a shadow and content to simply be near them.
Ideal Home
Blitzen would do best in a home with a yard where he can play and explore. While he doesn't need another dog, he would benefit from opportunities to socialize with other dogs, perhaps through daycare, if he doesn't have a canine companion. He cannot live in an apartment. He is good with adults and other dogs. He is good with children, but homes with older kids are recommended as he can be a bit nervous initially, though never aggressive. His compatibility with cats is unknown.
Ongoing Health
Blitzen had a benign tumor removed and has fully recovered.
Training & Support
Blitzen is a barker and can be destructive if left unattended for long periods, so he should be crated in those situations. He needs his own space when eating from a bowl to prevent any food aggression with other dogs, but he is gentle when taking treats or food. He walks well on a leash and rides well in the car.
