Bert & Ernie

Bert and Ernie are a bonded pair of 4 and 5-year-old, 15-pound Chihuahua mixes who are discovering the joys of a new life. They came to us after living outdoors their entire lives, and before arriving here, these boys had never been on a walk, slept in a cozy bed, or even visited a vet. Despite such a rough start, they have shown a gentle spirit and a willingness to learn. At first, Bert and Ernie can be timid, but with kindness and patience, their sweet and affectionate nature begins to shine through. They are already learning to walk on a leash and, while not fully confident yet, they are both making progress every day. The bros especially enjoy the comfort of their kennel beds, a simple luxury they never knew before. Bert gains much of his confidence through Ernie, who reminds him that being brave results in the best neck scritches and love from their human friends! With love, structure, and patience, Bert and Ernie will blossom into the wonderful companions they were meant to be.

Bert and Ernie are learning to walk on a leash and are making progress every day. While not fully confident yet, consistent positive reinforcement will help them grow.
