Meet Wheezy! This four-year-old mixed-breed sweetheart is a devoted, affectionate girl whose heart is just as big as her personality. With her snowy white coat, golden patches, and striking icy blue eyes, she’s as beautiful as she is loving! She’s a loyal, cuddly, and playful companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her people, whether that means snuggling on the couch or enjoying her favorite activity, gentle but enthusiastic roughhousing with her favorite humans. Her name suits her perfectly! When she’s soaking up affection, she lets out little wheezes and oinks of pure contentment, like a happy little piglet. It’s impossible not to smile! Wheezy is remarkably intelligent and responsive. She’s fully house-trained, knows several commands including sit, shake, place, free, and wait, and learns new skills quickly. During play, she brings joyful enthusiasm while staying gentle, and she responds immediately when asked to calm down. Her attentiveness and responsiveness reflect her strong desire to connect and please.
Ideal Home
Wheezy would thrive as the only pet in the home. She’s reactive toward other animals and isn’t comfortable sharing her space, but in a pet-free environment, she can relax and show her best qualities – affectionate, playful, and deeply devoted. She would do best with an experienced adopter in a quiet home. She’s not currently compatible with homes with young children.
Ongoing Health
Wheezy receives Venlafaxine to help manage stress and reactivity, and it’s been very beneficial for her. She also follows a special diet to manage food sensitivities, which helps her feel her best. Vet visits require some preparation and pre-visit medication, and with that support, she does well.
Training & Support
Wheezy typically needs about 10 to 15 minutes to warm up to new people. She may bark or seem unsure at first, but offering a bit of wet food helps her feel comfortable quickly. Once she decides you’re okay, she’s all in, following you around and happily seeking out affection! Caregivers consistently describe her as really sweet and easy once she’s had that brief adjustment period. She’s made meaningful progress on leash. While she used to react strongly to dogs across the street, she can now pass them with only a brief fluff and grumble before moving on. With the right precautions, walks have become much more enjoyable.
