Franklin D Roosevelt "FDR" may share a name with a president, but this lanky chihuahua’s campaign is for belly rubs, not votes. At 4 years old and 13 pounds, he’s got legs for days, a heart of gold, and the kind of survivor spirit that deserves its own monument. This little guy came into rescue with an injury that required months of TLC, and while his body has healed, he’s still looking for the person who will help his heart feel completely safe again. FDR isn’t about instant gratification—he’s about building trust, one gentle touch and kind word at a time. Once you earn his vote of confidence, FDR transforms into the sweetest, most loyal companion. He’s proof that resilience comes in small, furry packages, and he’s ready to move into his forever home where the only thing on his agenda will be love, patience, and maybe the occasional victory lap around the living room.

Ongoing Health

Franklin is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. He has had a 4DX test and is negative for heartworm and tick disease.

Training & Support

FDR is a house-trained dog. He is still learning to trust, so patience and consistent positive reinforcement will be key to his continued success.

FDR is located at the HARTT Shelter in Phoenix, AZ. We do not do out-of-state adoptions.
