About Chance

Meet Chance!

Chance is a 7-year-old, 95-pound, handsome Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler mix with a calm and laidback presence. His striking eyes and dark brown and tan coat make him a gentle guardian of both the backyard and the couch. He thrives in a family environment and truly loves being near his people, offering steady companionship whether resting at your feet, supervising dinner, or snoring softly in his crate. He is house-trained, neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and even has transferable pet insurance. Chance politely lets you know when it's time for a potty break and settles well when left alone.

Ideal Home

Chance thrives in a family environment and is good with children. He would love a home where he can be near his people and has a cozy indoor sleeping space.

Ongoing Health

Chance recently began thyroid medication, and the positive changes have been wonderful. He is more energized, playful, and engaged, and his coat is improving with hair growing back on his tail. He also has extra dewclaws that require regular grooming.

Training & Support

Chance benefits from clear boundaries and structured routines, especially around food. He is ruled by his nose and enjoys relaxed daily walks and "sniffaris." He does beautifully both on and off leash with familiar dogs and is compatible with other dogs and cats, currently coexisting peacefully with neighborhood cats and sharing playful moments with them. He is not a frequent barker, though he will offer a big alert if someone approaches. Chance knows an impressive list of commands including sit, stay, down, come, roll over, shake, go lay down, walk fast, and "time for bed." He is an early riser (around 5:00-5:30 a.m.) and appreciates consistent mealtimes.
