About Scar (Updated)
Scar is a very sweet, playful bundle of muscles in a compact 17 lb package. She is a 2 year old, female Jack Russell Mix. She is quite timid and unsure of strangers, and may tremble or growl to politely ask for some space. Once she learns she is safe and can trust you, she will want to be close and keep a watchful eye on what her humans are doing. Once she trusts you, she is a calm, quiet, cuddly companion. She is also very inquisitive and smart and a VERY agile little clown. With patience, love and positive reinforcement, to continue her gains in confidence and comfort in new situations with strangers, she will blossom into an even better companion. When out and about, she greets other dogs with polite curiosity and tries to invite play but accepts even aggressive refusals without becoming reactive, so she would be fine in a household with another dog. She does seem to have a high prey drive and is inclined to dash after birds, squirrels and bunnies. She has had a mutual staring contest with a cat sighted on a neighbour's balcony. She is such a clean, smart girl. She will go to the patio door to be let out into our back garden when she needs to do her business. Sometimes when we are busy and don't notice her waiting at the door, she will ring the bell we have hung there for that purpose. She is usually fine being crated, especially, since she always gets a treat for doing so. She is content to sleep in her crate overnight, as long as the crate is near her people, i.e. in your bedroom. She just wants to be close to you.
Ideal Home
Her ideal home would be one that is adult only, who would understand her fears and help her overcome them by ensuring others respect her warnings and give her space and time to get used to them. She loves zoomies so a fenced yard would be ideal for her. She is okay left alone for about four hours at a time, so someone who can come home from work for lunch to visit and let her out would be good. She is an early riser so it would probably best if her people were too!
Ongoing Health
No specific health conditions are mentioned in the listing. All adoption fees include spay/neuter, vaccinations, de-worming, I.D. tag and microchip insertion, excluding unaltered puppies under a year.
