Drago is a 5-year-old, 64 lb. boy who is currently in urgent need of a foster or adoptive home. He is recovering from distemper virus, which is not contagious to adult, fully vaccinated dogs and is safe around cats. While his recovery is expected to take about three months, with a quiet space and comfort, he has the best chance to heal. The shelter will provide medical guidance and support, and donated supplies will be given to fosters, who also have first dibs on adoption.
Drago is described as a big lovable goofball with a huge head and an easygoing personality. He can be a bit shy at first but warms up quickly, enjoying tug toys and leaning in for snuggles. He's a hunka muffin who is sure to steal your heart once he gets to know you!
Ideal Home
Drago needs a home where he can recover peacefully. He is not suitable for a home with small animals due to a past incident where he fatally injured a puppy. He may display chasing behaviors toward small animals and a confident, strong handler is recommended. He has a history of escaping enclosed spaces, so secure fencing and supervision are essential. He is dog selective with male dogs and must meet any resident dogs before adoption. He is not to be taken to dog parks or other uncontrolled social settings.
Ongoing Health

Training & Support
Drago may display chasing behaviors toward small animals and has a history of escaping enclosed spaces. Muzzle training is highly recommended, especially for potential unexpected interactions with small animals and during introductions to other dogs. He needs a confident handler for safe management on walks. He is dog selective with male dogs and requires slow, structured introductions. He should not attend dog parks or other uncontrolled social settings. These behaviors could improve with proper management and professional training.
