Hugo is a charming mix of affection, independence, and just the right amount of "I'll decide when I'm ready." He's the kind of dog who enjoys being close to his people but also appreciates having his own space. If he wants some attention (and he often does!), he has a sweet way of asking – he'll gently bump your hand with his head to let you know he's ready for pets. Once you start, he's happy to lean in and enjoy the affection. After some quality cuddle time, Hugo is perfectly content to find a cozy spot of his own and relax. One of Hugo's favorite hobbies is watching the world go by. Whether he's sitting on the front porch and observing the activity around him or heading out for a walk, he enjoys taking in all the sights and smells. Sometimes he's an enthusiastic explorer, eager to investigate every interesting scent, and other times he's happy to take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the moment. Hugo can be a little thoughtful when meeting new people. He likes to take his time, observe, and decide when someone has earned a spot in his circle. Respect his pace, and he'll reward you with trust and affection. Try to rush him, and he may remind you that Hugo makes his own choices! A few tasty treats go a long way toward winning his heart. Hugo has been a rock star with other dogs. He doesn't really play much but has been completely chill with all the dogs he's met.

Hugo appreciates a home that understands his need for space and allows him to approach new people and experiences at his own pace.
Ongoing Health
All dogs will be neutered, vaccinated with age-appropriate vaccines, heartworm tested, current on parasite prevention and microchipped.
Training & Support
Hugo may need encouragement to warm up to new people, and positive reinforcement with treats will go a long way in building trust. He has been observed to be "chill" with other dogs. He will go home with a free training scholarship.
