Mavis is a 2-year-old, spayed female Shepherd mix who weighs around 55 pounds. She's a gentle, easygoing sweetheart with a calm demeanor, ready to bring quiet joy into your home. Mavis is happy to join you for daily walks of up to 3 miles and then relax by your side, preferring the cool floor to even a comfy bed. She started showing up at an elementary school and was cared for by a teacher who eventually found her a foster and rescue. Mavis has been thriving in foster care ever since and is now ready for her forever home!

Mavis loves other dogs and thrives in a social environment, getting along beautifully with dogs of all sizes. She's respectful and knows when to disengage from play. Mavis is a dream on leash, walking close by your side and easily redirected. She can be a bit cautious around sewer grates and drainage holes and may startle if approached suddenly from behind, so a calm and predictable environment would be best. Based on her interest in squirrels, a cat-free home is recommended. She has done wonderfully with children, including an 8-year-old, and is gentle, quiet, and affectionate once she feels safe.
