Goldie is a beautiful 6-year-old retriever mix who traveled all the way from Azerbaijan to Canada in search of the one thing she's never truly had: a family of her own. She's currently thriving in foster care in London, Ontario, and is looking for her forever home. You'd never know by meeting her today what she has been through. Goldie is gentle, affectionate, and happiest when she's surrounded by her people. She's the kind of dog who quietly becomes a part of the family, following you from room to room and simply wanting to be nearby and smiling. If someone is home during the day, even better, because that's exactly the kind of life Goldie would love. Her foster-momma describes her as an exceptional family dog with no reactivity or behavioral issues. She adores children and seems to have an instinctive, nurturing nature around them. She's incredibly patient, even with energetic little ones, calmly handling fast movements and busy play without missing a beat. Our volunteers lovingly call her a "mother's helper." Goldie gets along well with other dogs and would be happy to share her home with a canine companion. She has shown more curiosity than determination with cats, so a cat-free home or one with slow introductions would be ideal. She enjoys having a fenced yard with plenty of green space where she can wander, sniff, and, ideally, follow the kids around while they play. Off leash in a secure area is her favorite kind of outdoor hang! So far she doesn't seem to enjoy leash walks, though that may change with time. One of Goldie's most charming quirks is her love of music. She doesn't just hear it, she truly listens. She'll tilt her head as though she's taking in every note, and when the mood strikes, she'll happily join in with her own sweet song. Goldie has survived the streets. She has endured countless skin surgeries, years of waiting, and more uncertainty than any dog should ever know. Now she's ready for the easy part: a yard to explore, children to watch over, a family to follow from room to room and smile at, a soft place to sleep, and a home where she's finally someone's beloved dog.
