Charming Chido has come a long way from the streets outside of Houston to a snuggly bed inside your home. This boy has come a long way. Despite his horrific past, Chido continues to put faith into people and other animals. His love for cats alone speaks volumes about his gentle nature. He makes friends very easily, with animals and people alike. Chido loves to spend most days with a short walk, playing with toys, and sleeping. Chido sleeps a lot! He is gentle with children, cats, and most dogs. Chido is dog selective. However, as long as other dogs aren’t trying to make him submit or jumping all over him, they will get along just fine. Noise like thunder, lightning, and fireworks do frighten this sweet boy. He will need comforting during these times. As long as he knows you’re by his side, he quickly calms down. Chido deserves a patient household. Someone that either works from home or is retired to chill with. He suffers from separation anxiety, so having a relaxed companion to hang with would be ideal for sweet, charming Chido. Chido is an inside companion, not an outside dog. He deserves every bit of love we have to give and more. Chido is nearly 4 years old and weighs a healthy 63 lbs. He is an American Bulldog and possible Boxer mix.
Ideal Home
Chido needs a patient household, ideally with someone who works from home or is retired, as he suffers from separation anxiety. He needs a relaxed companion to be with him. He is gentle with children and cats, and most dogs, but is dog selective and may not get along with dogs who try to assert dominance or are overly boisterous.
Ongoing Health
Chido is heartworm positive and is currently on slow-kill medication (Heartguard), a low-cost monthly pill. He should be tested annually to monitor the heartworms. Chido also suffers from occasional hip arthritis, which makes it difficult for him to get around initially. This has only occurred twice since he has been in foster care and is believed to stem from an old injury. X-rays showed inflammation but no broken bones.
Training & Support
Chido walks well on leash, knows basic commands, and is potty trained. He will need comforting during loud noises like thunder, lightning, and fireworks due to his fear.
