About Dahlia Daisy Flower the MINI Lab
Dahlia Daisy Flower is an 11-month-old "itty bitty labbie pittie" who is as sweet and delicate as her floral namesake. Weighing in at around 35 pounds, she's expected to stay on the smaller side, likely not exceeding 40-45 pounds. Dahlia is a delightful pup who loves her mornings with a potty break and some playful zoomies in the backyard, followed by a brisk walk. She's a near-perfect leash walker, unless a squirrel catches her eye! Dahlia thrives on activity and enjoys exploring trails and parks, making friends with everyone she meets. While she can be a little shy with new people at first, she warms up quickly and is incredibly sweet. She also has a fondness for water and isn't afraid to jump into a creek or river, making her a potential camping companion.
During the workday, Dahlia is content to snooze by her foster mom's side, happily joining in on zoomie breaks with the other four resident dogs. She lives harmoniously with two small female dogs, one medium male dog, and a large female dog, though smaller dogs should be able to set their own boundaries. Dahlia's favorite pastimes include chasing pine cones and carrying around big sticks. She is crate and house-trained but can be vocal when initially left alone in her crate, which might be a consideration for homes with shared walls. However, with plenty of exercise, she could adapt to apartment living. Dahlia enjoys another stroll after work and, being a young pup, benefits from at least two walks daily to manage her energy. She would be happiest with another playful dog in the home or regular visits to doggy daycare if her people work full-time outside the home, as she truly loves canine companionship. She hasn't been tested with cats or children, but we suspect she'd do well with respectful children aged 8 and up who will engage with her in play. A cat test can be arranged if needed. Dahlia is an excellent car passenger, hopping in eagerly and enjoying the ride calmly. She has a healthy appetite and enjoys her meals without rushing. While she's generally good about other dogs approaching her food bowl, separate eating spaces are always recommended in multi-dog households. At night, Dahlia settles well in her crate and will eventually love to share a bed with her humans. Overall, Dahlia is a snuggly, fun, and lovely pup who is well-behaved in public, enjoys adventures, and will bring immense joy to her future family.
Ideal Home
Dahlia would thrive in a home with another playful dog or with opportunities for regular doggy daycare. She could be a great fit for a dog-friendly apartment or condo as long as she receives ample exercise. Homes with shared walls should consider her initial vocalization when left alone in her crate. While not yet tested with cats or children, she is expected to do well with respectful children aged 8 and up.
Ongoing Health
Dahlia is up-to-date on all her vetting, which includes DAPP with booster, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines, multiple broad-spectrum deworming treatments, flea prevention, a 12-month heartworm preventative injectable, a heartworm test and treatment if needed, and a microchip with free lifetime registration.
Training & Support
Dahlia is crate and house-trained, but may cry in her crate initially when left alone. This will likely need to be re-established in her new home. She is known to be a bit vocal when first left alone in her crate.
