GiGi, affectionately known as Gingersnap, is a delightful approximately 4-year-old female mix, believed to be of Boxer and Pit Bull heritage. She weighs around 40 pounds and has the heart and energy of a playful puppy, always ready for a game with her favorite toys. When she first arrived at our rescue on November 11, 2023, she was timid, but with time and patience, she has blossomed into a loving companion. Gingersnap is wonderfully affectionate, though she can be initially shy with new people and environments. Once she settles in, her true personality shines through – she's never shown a hint of aggression during her time with us. She gets along well with other dogs her size or larger but prefers a calmer atmosphere and doesn't appreciate overly rowdy play. A fun quirk is her love for greeting you with something in her mouth, whether it's a toy or even a tiny piece of paper, and she eagerly awaits your excited reaction!
Ideal Home
Gingersnap would thrive in a patient home with a fenced-in yard. She is not suitable for apartment living and would do best in a home without young children. While she can be an only dog, she may also do well with one or two other dogs her size. Her compatibility with smaller dogs or cats is unknown.
Ongoing Health
Gingersnap is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, deworming, and preventative medications. She is also heartworm negative.
Training & Support
Gingersnap is believed to be fully housebroken, with very few accidents during her foster care. She does require some leash training as she can be timid when walking on a leash. Her tendency to pick things up when excited to greet you can be managed with consistent positive reinforcement and by ensuring toys are readily available.
