Meet Rufio, a handsome Cane Corso mix who currently weighs 66 pounds. His foster mom is working to help him reach his ideal weight of 75 pounds. This sweet boy was rescued from the streets in early January 2026 and is learning every day that he can trust humans.
Rufio is a shy, quiet boy with a sweet, gentle temperament. It takes him a little time to trust new people, but within a week of arriving at his foster home, he started following his foster mom around, seeking affection, and hopping on the couch and bed to be near the family. He loves his foster mom and her two children, ages 9 and 11, with the 9-year-old son being his favorite! Rufio is a little intimidated by his foster dad but has shown no aggression, simply retreating when he's around. His foster family is taking things slow with him.
Rufio's energy level is low to medium. He enjoys evening walks and doesn't react to other people or dogs. He is working on his leash manners, which are already pretty good. He is not a vocal dog; he occasionally whimpers quietly when he's excited or unsure, and he lets out a goofy howl when his foster mom leaves, which only lasts a couple of minutes.
Ideal Home
Rufio would thrive with a patient adopter who can help him feel safe and loved. He is dog-friendly and currently lives with two senior Chihuahuas who boss him around, and he lets them. He would love calm, well-mannered doggy friends that can help him come out of his shell.

Training & Support
Rufio is house-trained and will approach the back door when he needs to go out. He is also crate-trained and tolerates a secured crate well when his family is not home, without any accidents. He sleeps through the night and is happy to sleep in his foster parents' bed or in a crate in their bedroom, as long as he is near his humans.
