Max is a 6-year-old, 71 lb male Akita/Husky mix with one striking blue eye and a gentle soul. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and fully house trained, with no accidents in his foster home. Max truly loves life. He is a beautiful, intelligent dog who is obedient, eager to learn, and very in tune with the people around him. Max already knows most commands and is a quick learner who enjoys working with his handler. He builds strong bonds with people when given a little time and space to get to know them. Once he feels safe, his calm and happy personality really shines. Max was found dumped at a kill shelter in NY and was quickly placed on the euthanasia list. At the shelter, he was very frightened and unsure of the people around him. He would gently take treats, drop them, and only eat them once the person stepped away. It was clear he wanted to trust. When Max arrived at his foster home, he showed signs of trust right away, taking a treat from his foster's hand immediately. His foster could tell that his trust would continue to grow with time. In just over a week, Max began to settle in and feel much more comfortable. Now he is calm, happy, and enjoys being around people. He loves walks, exploring new places, and going on car rides. Max also has a sweet, playful side and enjoys carrying around his favorite toys, especially his duck, avocado, and little mouse. Max thrives with structure and enjoys relaxing in his crate after walks. He may be a bit shy at first, but once he trusts you, he becomes a loyal and devoted companion. Max is looking for a peaceful, patient home where he can continue to grow and feel secure. With love and understanding, he will reward his person with a lifetime of devotion.
