Meet Shade!
Shade is a 5-year-old pit bull mix with a heart as big as his smile. This sweet guy is all about his people—he thrives on love, attention, and snuggles. Shade has a few favorite things in life: a good car ride, a cool spot in the AC, and spending time with his humans. He is easily one of our most improved dogs we’ve seen! Shade is such a sweet boy who loves kids of all ages. He is currently in a foster home with lots of little ones and a baby, and he is amazing with them! He shows no food aggression and will take treats from children, even allowing the baby to play around in his water and food bowls with no issues.
He lives with other dogs and a cat. While he can be selective with animals he likes, once warmed up and introduced correctly, he can be playful and will even share his toys. Shade is fully house-trained, kennel-trained, knows all basic commands, and can show off a few extra tricks (sit, down, heel, place, stay, come, no bark, wait, and release). He will kennel up when told, or told to go to bed.
Shade's current quirks that need consistent structure are reactivity when on walks or in the car. He is not aggressive, but he becomes extremely fixated and barks, requiring you to redirect his attention, which he will do! Shade is also not a fan of nail trims and has to have a vet sedate him, but this is something that could be worked on. He has been to weeks of professional training and has 3 free follow-up sessions for his adopter with Modified K9 in Spokane, WA!
Ideal Home
Shade thrives on love, attention, and snuggles and loves spending time with his humans. He is amazing with kids of all ages and has no food aggression.
Ongoing Health
Shade is not a fan of nail trims and requires sedation for them. This is something that could be worked on with consistent training.
Training & Support
Shade knows all basic commands and several tricks. He is house-trained and kennel-trained. He can be reactive on walks and in the car, but he is trainable with redirection. He has received professional training and comes with follow-up sessions.
