Meet Deebo! This handsome 3-year-old boy is slowly adjusting to the good life after spending time on the street. While with his foster, he has learned that life in a house is so much better than on the streets and seems to appreciate all the security and comforts that come with having a family of his own. Deebo is nervous with new situations and is a flight risk until he settles. He has done well with the other animals in his current foster home and would thrive in a home with another dog that is willing to mentor him on how to dog. Once comfortable, this guy is a love that enjoys the companionship of the humans and animals that he trusts. Despite being 3 years old, Deebo has a lot to discover, such as the joys of playing with toys, snuggling on the couch and more!
Ideal Home
Deebo needs a special family that is willing to continue to work with him and support him as he learns and gains confidence. A fenced-in yard is a must, and he is not recommended for a home with children under 10. While he is a gentle guy, his fear of everyday noises and situations often causes him to want to run and that can include right out an open door or window. Those who have worked with him also joke that being able to lift 50lbs is a plus since sometimes his fear causes him to freeze and not want to do things like come back into the house.
Ongoing Health
Deebo is heartworm positive and treatment has begun, so his prognosis is a full recovery with a great quality of life.
Training & Support
Deebo is nervous with new situations and can be a flight risk. He may freeze when scared, so patience and gentle guidance will be key to helping him build confidence. He has done well with other animals and would benefit from a canine mentor.
