Comet

Comet is a 3-year-old, 56-pound, neutered male hound/retriever mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit! He was rescued from the streets and brought to us from the San Antonio county shelter. Comet, who also answers to Buddy, is living in a foster home and dreaming of his forever family.

Ideal Home

Comet would be happiest in a home with another dog to play and snuggle with. He's done well with indoor cats and kids, but due to a mild herding instinct, we recommend a home with children aged 10 and older who can understand and respect animal cues. He adores his foster dad but can be a bit wary of men initially, so patience and consistency will help him warm up.

Training & Support

This smart pup is fully house, crate, and leash trained! He sleeps through the night in his kennel without a peep and doesn't pull on the leash. Comet is also reliably potty trained and will let you know when he needs to go out. He doesn't seem to suffer from separation anxiety, but he does enjoy tasting things when unsupervised, so crating him when you can't watch him is recommended. Comet's favorite thing is to please, making him a joy to train. He's affectionate, cuddly, and just wants to be with his people.
