Kira

Kira is an adorable, happy, and bouncy girl who loves walks, hikes, playing fetch, and simply being by her person's side. She's a volunteer favorite, always up for an adventure, from local strolls to more exciting activities like agility and even paddleboarding! Kira rides well in the car and is a pro at walking on leash, often staying right by your side. She's mastered basic cues like sit, down, stay, and touch, and with her treat motivation and intelligence, she's a quick learner.

Ideal Home

Kira is an active dog who needs a home ready to provide daily exercise and mental stimulation. She would do best in an adult home or with older, considerate children due to her bouncy nature and how she approaches new people.

Ongoing Health

Kira has been with the rescue since February 2023. Due to years in boarding, she can become overstimulated by fast movements like motorcycles or joggers, which might lead to pulling on leash or spinning in excitement. She may also have a hard time relaxing after a stressful event.

Training & Support

Kira can be overstimulated and may pull on leash or spin in excitement when overstimulated. She needs someone who understands this and will give her breaks or take her home to decompress when needed. She enjoys playing fetch but may not always return the ball; having a second ball ready will keep the game going! Kira is an "in-your-face" greeter and her exuberant play style means she does well with dogs who match her energy, but she's not the perfect match for every dog. She can be nervous with people approaching too directly, so low-pressure meetings where she can sniff and choose to engage are best.
