Onyx

Meet Onyx, a sweet 7-year-old, 20lb Chi Dachshund mix with a calm and gentle spirit that's sure to bring smiles to your face every day. Rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Houston, Onyx has shown everyone how special she is. She's spayed, vaccinated, and up-to-date on all her preventatives, ready for her forever home.

Ideal Home

Onyx enjoys a slower pace due to a bit of arthritis and would do best in a semi-active to low-activity household where she can enjoy short walks and plenty of relaxing time. She has done well with respectful children ages 7-12 and would do best with older, dog-savvy children.

Training & Support

Onyx is house-trained, sleeps in her crate at night by choice, and can be crated for up to 10 hours if needed. She doesn't resource guard or show food aggression and can be trusted to free roam the house without being destructive. She can get a little excited on leash when greeting new dog friends.

Transporation

Onyx is currently being fostered in San Antonio, but transport out of state to the right approved adopter is available. Transports run every few weeks, and she will be on the next available transport once approved.
