Bebe

Meet Bebe! She’s proof positive that you’re never too old to begin a new chapter. This darling girl finds herself looking for a new home because her owner is terminally ill, and closest family members are allergic. At 12-13 years old and very overweight, this presented a challenge, but Bebe is full of light, love, and ENERGY! She's currently a 57lb dog working her way down to a healthy 40lbs, and she's eager to shed the excess weight and start this next phase of her life. Her theme song is Patti LaBelle’s “New Attitude.” She has Cushing's disease and will need to continue her medication to control it.

Ideal Home

Bebe is a lower activity dog who would be happy in a townhouse or apartment, and a fenced yard is not required. She does well with most other dogs, but she can be a bit alpha in her play, so pairing her with a more submissive dog is recommended. She is good with kids and her activity level is low.

Ongoing Health

Bebe has Cushing's disease and will need to continue her medication to manage it. She is currently overweight and working towards a healthy weight of 40lbs.

Training & Support

Bebe knows basic commands like "sit" and "come" and is highly treat-motivated, making her eager to learn. She is mostly house-trained but can have stress-related accidents if she can't find you, which has been mitigated by talking to her. She is crate-trained and settles down after an initial bark when left alone. She does not chew inappropriate items. While not necessarily needing an experienced adopter, she should be willing to learn about her medications.

Transportation

Bebe is currently in a foster home in the Baltimore/DC area. We are unable to place our animals outside of this area. Please check the adoption show attendees page to see if Bebe will be attending the next adoption show.
