Athena is a sweet, mature lady of about 9-10 years old who is ready to embrace her golden years. She's a very even-keel dog, past her rambunctious puppy days and truly enjoying a more relaxed pace of life. Athena enjoys a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, not pulling on the leash, but rather taking the lead with confident curiosity. She's also a dedicated yard patroller, committed to keeping the premises free of any pesky squirrels! While toys aren't her main interest, Athena is quite the foodie and loves a good meal. Just be mindful when administering her daily medication, as she's a clever girl who might try to eat around the pill!
Athena tends to bond more closely with women, often following her favorite person around the house. However, she's shown a fondness for stealing foster dad's spot on the bed at night! She has happily accepted pets from visiting children, suggesting she could do well in a home with older kids.
Ideal Home
Athena has lived with another easy-going dog of similar size, but she would likely be happiest as the sole canine companion. She's not suited for younger, high-energy dogs, as she prefers a peaceful, couch-potato lifestyle and can become a bit grouchy if her space is invaded. Unfortunately, cats are not a good fit for Athena, as they trigger her prey drive. She is also seeking an owner who isn't away for long hours, as she thrives on companionship and will miss you dearly when you're gone.
Ongoing Health
Athena requires daily prescription medication for mobility, which will be a lifelong need. Regular walks are key to keeping her happy and healthy.
Training & Support
Athena is already quite settled, but her cleverness with medication is something to be aware of. A patient owner who understands her routine will be best.
