Lázaro is a charming 6–7-year-old, approximately 19 lb, male Schnauzer mix with a calm demeanor and a heart full of love to give. He’s a gentle soul who enjoys quiet companionship and appreciates calm affection. Lázaro sleeps soundly in an open crate and is comfortable spending short periods inside it. He's a social butterfly who gets along wonderfully with other dogs, children, men, and women, and has even been known to coexist peacefully with chickens! While he enjoys being petted, he's not overly demanding of attention, preferring to be an independent, low-key friend.
Lázaro was sadly abandoned because he was considered "old" and "different," but he's a living testament that true beauty shines from within. He is ready to find a family who will cherish his resilience and quiet loyalty.
Ideal Home
A relaxed household that appreciates a calm and easygoing companion. A home with a fenced backyard is preferred, and an active family that enjoys outdoor activities would be a great fit.
Ongoing Health
Lázaro has a congenital condition with one eye, which is small and without vision, and he is missing a few teeth. These conditions do not cause him pain or limit him in any way, and he is otherwise healthy. He is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations (DHPPI, Rabies, Bordetella), has been dewormed, and tested negative for heartworm and 4DX. He is on monthly preventive medication (Nexgard Spectra).
Training & Support
Lázaro can be a bit protective of his food, so gentle boundaries during feeding time are recommended. It's important to remember that rescued dogs may need an adjustment period to feel secure in a new environment. Patience, understanding, and establishing a consistent routine will help build trust and a strong bond. While not house-trained, he is a smart dog who, with experience or by hiring a trainer, can thrive with the right guidance.

Transporation
Lázaro is currently being fostered in Saltillo, Mexico, and is available for transport to the East Coast of the US. A transport fee of $400 USD covers door-to-door delivery. Our transport process includes scheduled trips with a partnered company, comprehensive paperwork, real-time updates via a private Facebook Messenger group, and a final home delivery.
