About Pumpkin Lumpkin Squishy Princess

Pumpkin Lumpkin looks like someone took a classic redbone coonhound, added extra-soft velvet ears, sprinkled in a little bit of melted marshmallow personality, and then accidentally hit the "extra large cuddle edition" button. This beautiful two-year-old coonhound mix is basically a sleepy southern lady wrapped in floppy ears and good manners. Seriously, her ears are so long and dramatic that we're fairly certain she was built at the Floppy Ear Factory™ and they simply refused to stop production. They bounce when she walks, puddle onto the floor when she lays down, and honestly deserve their own fan club. And speaking of laying down... Pumpkin's favorite hobby is being comfortable. Couch? Amazing. Soft dog bed? Incredible. Grass in the sunshine? Perfect. Your lap, despite her size? She'll consider it. Pumpkin is the definition of low-maintenance. Her foster mother describes her as an incredibly easy, sweet dog who has been wonderful in the home. She walks beautifully on leash, enjoys calmly wandering around the yard, and seems genuinely happiest just existing peacefully near her people. She's not demanding, chaotic, or overly energetic, she's more of a "let's slowly stroll around and then immediately take a nap about it" kind of girl. Pumpkin is incredibly tolerant and sweet with people. During handling tests she accepted everything calmly and gently, and one volunteer even used her as a personal pillow while she happily tolerated the affection like the patient angel she is. She met many strangers and we quickly came to realize that there is no such thing in her book. Every person gets immediate full body wags from Pumpkin. She may not immediately throw herself dramatically into your arms, but once she settles in, she absolutely melts into love in the softest, sweetest way. With other dogs, Pumpkin is wonderfully polite and refreshingly unproblematic. She greeted dogs appropriately, handled rowdy dogs well, and mostly just wanted to wander around and mind her own business after saying hello. She currently lives with smaller dogs in foster care and does great with them, but she's definitely more "pleasant coworker" than "wild party girl." If another dog wants nonstop wrestling matches, Pumpkin will probably excuse herself and go lay down somewhere comfy instead. Because of her calm personality, she could do well either with another respectful, lower-energy dog or as a spoiled solo princess soaking up all the couch space. She also tested well around calm, dog-savvy cats who respect boundaries and don't constantly try to engage her. A chill cat companion who likes peaceful coexistence would likely fit her vibe just fine. But we'd definitely do a kitty sleepover just be sure! We haven't had the chance to officially kid test Pumpkin yet, but she has shown so many qualities that suggest she could make a wonderful family dog, gentle, tolerant, easygoing, and affectionate without being overwhelming. So let us know if you want to see Pumpkin's kiddo potential and we will get her kid tested asap. As for apartment life, Pumpkin could potentially do well in the right setting because she's so low energy and easy on leash, but her foster says she does occasionally remember she is, in fact, part hound and can get a little vocal about her opinions. So a house with a yard or a more hound-friendly apartment situation may be the better fit for this long-eared lady. She's currently on a little wellness journey, which is a very polite way of saying Pumpkin has clearly never turned down a snack in her life. Because she's carrying some extra fluff right now, she can get tired pretty quickly, but underneath it all is an easygoing, happy girl who still enjoys exploring and sniffing around. Think "retired auntie energy" in the absolute best way possible. Pumpkin's dream home probably includes: a soft couch, a slower pace of life, leisurely sniffy walks, humans who appreciate giant floppy ears, snacks in moderation (her trainer made us add that), and lots of love and absolutely no pressure to become an athlete. She's sweet, silly, soulful, and impossibly easy to adore. If you've ever wanted a dog that feels like a warm weighted blanket with ears, Pumpkin may just be your perfect girl.

Ideal Home

A home with a soft couch, a slower pace of life, leisurely sniffy walks, humans who appreciate giant floppy ears, snacks in moderation, and lots of love and absolutely no pressure to become an athlete. She could do well either with another respectful, lower-energy dog or as a spoiled solo princess. A chill cat companion who likes peaceful coexistence would likely fit her vibe just fine. Pumpkin could potentially do well in an apartment if it's a more hound-friendly situation, but a house with a yard may be a better fit due to occasional vocalizations.

Ongoing Health
